These are stout woodworking chisels for the timber framer or anyone doing substantial woodworking. Forged from 1080 carbon steel with a differential heat treatment, they will have longevity and edge retention for years to come. The forging is done out of solid round bar with the hole for the socket drilled and then tapered so that there is no weld seam. This adds rigidity and smoothness inside to the socket as well. The bottoms are ground flat, and they ship standard with a 120 grit edge on a flat 30 degree bevel. They have a hickory handle and a steel collar can be added at the top upon special request. The edge will be right on dimension, and the body will taper towards the back slightly to avoid binding in a mortise. The sheaths are custom fit by a local leather worker, and are optional with your purchase.
