These are high quality “matchstick” style hammer handles made out of hickory with a gunstock-walnut wedge. The handles are 16 inches in length with rounded corners, flat sides, and a slight taper to fit an hourglass shaped eye. The kerf is cut approximately 2 inches deep in the handle for the wedge. Both the handles and wedges are finished with a 36 grit grinding belt, and will require you to custom fit the handle to your hammer head. You don’t need anything special to fit the handle, just a wood rasp/file and some 120 grit sand paper to smooth the handle if you desire. They come un-oiled and un-varnished ready for whatever type of finish you prefer.

These handles are of the same high quality, size, and feel as the standard handles I offer on my forged hammers. They also come with the same guarantee against defects that I give with any other tool.

Hickory comes in different shades, therefore you have your choice of darker hickory, lighter hickory, two-tone, or a mix of whatever is on hand. There is virtually no difference in quality among the different colours, it’s all aesthetic preference.
